CHARLES EDEM GIDI Board Chairman Charles Gidi is a Chartered Accountant and an Investment Banker. He holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Ghana Business School and Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com) and a Diploma in Education (Dip.Ed.) from the University of Cape Coast. Charles is the Managing Director and Founder of EGAS Capital Consulting Limited. Prior to EGAS Capital, he was the Managing Director of Renaissance Africa Group (Gh.) Ltd, a licensed investment bank. Charles previously worked as a Senior Manager and Head of Corporate Strategy & Development Banking arm of Merchant Bank (now Universal Merchant Bank). In this role, he represented Merchant Bank as advisor to the Ministry of Trade and Industry on a number of government’s flagship private sector projects. Charles led the recapitalization and fund-raising drive for the Bank, resulting in the raising of the first ever US$40 million remittances-backed Afreximbank facility in Ghana, raising cumulatively over US$250 million trade and credit lines in favour of the Bank and its customers. Charles is also credited with his pioneering role in setting up the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for purposes of business incubation, reviving and rejuvenating financially distressed corporate clients. Charles, prior to joining Merchant Bank, worked as a Project Consultant of AMSCO, a project arm of the International Finance Corporation (IFC). He was first based in Accra where he supervised some 300 SMEs under his West Africa portfolio and later transferred to South Africa where he was an executive responsible for coordinating projects from the various regional offices. Charles also had a stint with SSNIT as an Investment Manager and the Head of the Financial Sector Unit of the Investments Department of SSNIT. In this role, he supervised the financial services sector investments of the Trust, representing the shareholder and an alternate director on the Board of some of the institutions. He was previously a resource person, a business coach and a mentor for SMEs under the ENGINE programme of Technoserve as well as an adjunct lecturer in Corporate Finance at the Central University College and the Accra Technical University. Charles has held varied Board positions in a number of institutions including: Guarantee Fund for West Africa (GARI, based in Lome, Togo), TV AFRICA Ltd, Prudential Bank (alternate director); Kekeli Hotel Ltd, Consumer Credit Limited, Ghana Venture Fund Ltd (alternate director). He is a nominee for the chairmanship of Ferrol Rural Bank (subject to regulatory approvals) and Korle Bu Kidney Transplant Centre. He has been a Director of Serene Insurance Company since March 2018. As a pioneering Chairman of the Finance and Strategy sub-committee, he designed and oversaw the implementation of the growth strategy of the Company, leading to attainment of significant milestones such as being adjudged the fastest growing insurance company in Ghana and recording profit within the first two years of commencement of operations. ERIC SEDDY KUTORTSE Member Eric Seddy Kutortse is the Founder/Chairman of the First Sky Group of Companies, one of Ghana’s leading group, with the following subsidiaries; First Sky Construction, First Sky Commodities, Volta Serene Hotel which is a 4-Star facility, Serene Insurance Ltd, First Sky Bitumen, First Sky Energies. First Sky Group has currently employed over 1700 people. He is endowed with Sixteen (16) years of leadership and entrepreneurial experience with phenomenal contribution to Ghana’s economy through job creation and contribution to the wellbeing of society at large. Eric Kutortse is a devoted Christian and the Board Chairman of Evangelism Explosion-Ghana, he is also a Deacon at the Trinity Assemblies of God Church in Tema and a lay preacher. To support the spread of the Gospel message, First Sky Group handed over 60 church buildings, with a seating capacity of 450-650 worshippers, to the Assemblies of God Church, Ghana, 30 each to the Eastern and Volta Regions. Eric is one individual whose kindness has made his country and the world a brighter place for the needy and less privileged persons in society. His support for social and religious courses had benefited and continue to benefit many individuals and organisations. To mention but a few, in recent years, his First Sky Group built a 50-seater well equipped Information Communication Technology (ICT) Centre for the Awate Schools in the North Dayi District of the Volta Region. Many students continue to be offered full scholarships at various levels of education. Over Fifty (50) needy students of his Alma Matter, Kpando Senior High School, continue to benefit from his full scholarship scheme annually. In 2016, the Group adopted the Renal & Dialysis Unit of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital to aid kidney patients who cannot afford dialysis, making treatment free at an annual cost of $4,200,000. Mercy N K Boampong CEO/Member Mercy joined Serene Insurance Limited on 1st September 2022 and came on board with a vast industry experience and deep knowledge spanning more than 22 years. Mercy, in her 22-year journey has assumed a number of senior level positions. Mercy has immense technical and leadership capabilities from her experiences as Chair and active member of several industry technical committees set up to fashion and implement various policy interventions for accelerated economic development and expansion of the insurance industry. These include the Marine Cargo Insurance Committee constituted by the NIC to come up with the minimum standards and requirements for Marine Cargo Insurances and the modalities for implementation and, also the Resolution Committee at the 2016 WAICA Educational Conference in Sierra Leone. Others include the Motor Technical Committee of the Ghana Insurers Association (GIA) which worked on the 2010 and 2015 Motor Tariffs, ECOWAS Brown Card (Ghana National Bureau) Technical Committee, Planning Committee of the 33rd Annual General Meeting of the Council of Bureau, ECOWAS Brown Card Insurance Scheme among others, Motor Insurance Database (MID), Marine Cargo Insurance Database and the Insurance Awareness Campaign Team among others. Mercy also facilitated a workshop on Customs Bonds for staff of the GRA, Customs Division. Mercy is credited to have mooted the idea of the NIC enforcing Insurers’ purchase of Brown Card Insurance Certificates at the time of purchasing Motor Insurance Stickers from the Commission and facilitated a number of sensitization programmes on the importance and benefits of taking a local Marine Cargo Insurance in Cape Coast, Takoradi, Koforidua and Aflao, an NIC and Ghana Shippers’ Authority collaboration to educate the shipping fraternity on the benefit of taking local marine cargo insurance. Mercy has attended a number of technical and leadership courses locally and international. These include various Underwriting, Claims and Reinsurance Courses organized both home and abroad, a C-Suite Leadership Programme under the LeapFrog Talent Accelerator, Managerial and Leadership Training Course at the Swiss Insurance Training Centre (SITC), Swiss Re, Zurich, Switzerland, RSA Global Network Training in Belgium, PRINCE2 Agile Project Management, a number of industry workshops e.g. Annual Zonal Meetings, AGMs and Council of Bureau Meetings of the ECOWAS Brown Card Insurance Scheme. Mercy is a fellow of the Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (FCIIG), an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, UK (ACII), holds an Executive Master of Business Administration (Marketing Option), and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secretaryship Mercy was recently elected and awarded as one of the Top 50 Women in Insurance in Africa at the 48th Annual General Meeting of the African Insurance Organization (AIO) and the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Organization, in recognition for her invaluable contribution to the growth of the Insurance Industry. read more

FRANK YEBOAH Member Frank is an experienced Accountant and Insurer, a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and Associate Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII). He is also a Member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), and the Pharmaceutical Technologists Association of Ghana (PTAG). He holds a Master of Science Degree in International Accounting from Anglia Ruskin University, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University, and a Certificate in Management of Drugs Supplies from the Commonwealth Pharmaceutical Association, all in the United Kingdom. Frank also holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree from Mountcrest University College in Ghana. He started his career with Martin Morrison & Co, a Chartered Certified Accountants, as an Audit Associate in the UK, and later worked with the same company as an Account/Audit Manager. He also worked as an Audit Manager at Opoku, Andoh & Co, Chartered Accountants and Consultatants, an ACCA Platinum Employer in Ghana. Prior to his appointment as a Board Member of Serene Insurance Company Limited, Frank was the Managing Director of Loyalty Insurance Company Limited, and was previously the internal Audit and Compliance Manager of the Activa Insurance Group, responsible for the West African Sub-region. SAMUEL ODURO Member Samuel Oduro is an astute insurance practitioner, industry trained at the sharp end with a creative and proactive approach to insurance business development. He is professionally qualified (ACII). He holds a BA (Hons) degree in Geography, and a Diploma in Education from University of Cape Coast. He has been in active insurance business life for over three decades and has gained a wealth of experience in the Life, non-life (General) and Broking discipline. He has worked in the Technical/Underwriting, Business Development, Management and chief Executive roles at various periods in his career at Enterprise Insurance, All Risk Consultancy, Donewell Insurance, Donewell Life, and currently at Eureka Insurance Brokers as the Managing director. He was a part-time lecturer in Risk and Insurance for 8 years at the Department of Banking and Finance, Faculty of Business Administration, Methodist University College Ghana. He also served as a resource person/lecturer for the Ghana Insurance College’s short course in Insurance. PAUL PARKER ATITSOGBUI Member Paul Parker Atitsogbui is a creative, innovative and results-driven lawyer with unparalleled expertise and experience in teaching and practice of the law with specialization in commercial law, business law, hospitality law, I.T law, Banking Law and Company Law over the past 15 years. He is the Director of Legal Affairs for First Sky Group, of which Serene Insurance is a member, and brings on board his rich experience and understanding of the nuances of insurance operations in Ghana providing unrivalled legal and strategic governance direction. As the board secretary to Serene Insurance, Mr. Atitsogbui is a pivotal link in the team of strong, focused and results-oriented leadership exercising strategic oversight to projecting Serene Insurance as the new face of Insurance in Ghana. He serves in similar capacity in the subsidiaries of First Sky Group including Frerol Rural Bank, First Sky Construction, First Sky Energies Limited, First Sky Bitumen Processing Limited, First Sky Commodities Limited and Volta Serene Hotel. Mr. Atitsogbui also teaches in the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Ho Technical University as a lecturer, having moved from the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) where he worked as a Legal Officer. Mr. Atitsogbui holds a LLB from the London Metropolitan University (2006), MSc in Business and Financial Economics from the University of Greenwich (2008) and LLM with specialization in Commercial Law from the University of Salford (2018) all from the United Kingdom (UK). J.D Clottey-Sefa Member J.D Clottey-Sefa is a Lawyer by Profession. He was called to the Ghana Bar in October 1990. He has a varied work experience. Upon been called to the Bar, he did his National Service with the Legal Aid Board from 1990 to 1992 Thereafter, he was appointed a Legal Officer by the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice in 1994 until 1996 when he resigned Mr. Clottey-Sefa was appointed a Legal Manager in 2003. He rose to the position of Director Legal Services, Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) and served as Solicitor Secretary until 2020 when he retired from the service of COCOBOD, upon attaining the statutory retirement age He is the Pastor-in-charge of the True Faith Family Chapel in Accra and he is married with three (3) adult children.
